Join JYCA! Jewish Youth For Community Action

The Center

About LGiT LGiT is open to youth ages 14-18 in the Bay who are interested in learning more about themselves and their place in the world, connecting with local organizing efforts, and building relationships with their peers and their community. The program includes six workshops and two retreats, starting in late January and wrapping up in early June. Our curriculum is led by youth who have already participated in the LGiT program and includes sessions on Judaism and social justice, identity dynamics in organizing spaces, active listening, adultism, and more. To learn more about LGiT, you can check out our programs page or watch this short video made by JYCA youth sharing about the program and what it means to them.

About JAM

We also invite LGiT applicants who are youth of color, Jews of color, Sephardic, or Mizrahi youth to join JAM (Jews Against Marginalization), our affinity group supported by JYCA's beloved Youth Program Manager, Geo Kanegawa. For youth interested in joining JAM, they can indicate their interest on the LGiT application form as well. For more information about JAM, you can check out the JAM program page. LGiT Info Sessions To learn more about LGiT from our current youth and get a taste of this year’s programming, we invite youth to join us for an in-person, youth-facilitated info session on Sunday, December 4 from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Netivot Shalom, 1316 University Ave, Berkeley, CA 94702. For those who can’t make the in-person session, we’ll also be holding a virtual session on Wednesday, December 7 from 6:00 - 7:00pm on Zoom. Here is the registration link for both info sessions, which also includes the LGiT program application for those who know they’re interested! Attached is a graphic with the dates for the info sessions as well, for ease of sharing.
