Peninsula Bridge empowers motivated, under-resourced students to achieve college and career success through individualized support and transformational educational opportunities. We are looking for motivated and committed high school students to be Teaching Assistants for our After School Academy. Apply here. As a TA, you may be doing the following activities: - Support teachers in the math and ELA classroom by engaging in discussion, leading small group activities, and monitoring students' progress - Support students engage in enrichment activities such as hands-on science experiments - Tutor and motivate small groups during tutorial time such as helping students navigate their homework and stay organized for school - Play with students during indoor and outdoor break time - Support PB staff with administrative tasks such as attendance, supervision, etc. Time Commitment We understand that many of you have extracurricular activities and we want to be flexible. We ask for a once a week commitment for at least 3 months You can commit to once or twice a week depending on your schedule. Sites, Dates, and Times Peninsula Bridge hosts 4 after school sites across the Peninsula. Please see below the different sites, locations, and times. The program runs on the week of September 12 through December 7 and January 15 through May 16.

Menlo School - Atherton - Mondays and Wednesdays - 4:00-5:45pm
Synapse School - Menlo Park - Tuesdays and Thursdays - 4:00-5:45pm
Crittenden Middle School - Mountain View - Mondays and Wednesdays - 4:00-5:45pm

Please be assured that the time you spend as TA will be incredibly rewarding and inspiring. It is important that you also know that it will require a great amount of energy and commitment. Students with a positive, flexible, and adaptable mindset do well in this program. You will create a new sense of pride built on Peninsula Bridge’s spirit of collaboration and teamwork.
Timeline
- Priority Submission Deadline: Sunday, September 3, 11:59pm.
- Final Submission Deadline: Sunday, September 10, 11:59pm or rolling basis for certain sites.
- You will hear back from us by September 15th.
Requirements
- Attend volunteer training on September 23 from 10:00am - 11:30am at Nueva Upper School (131 E 28th Ave, San Mateo).
- Show up on time to each program session beginning the first day.
- Contact your Site Coordinator 24 hours in advance if you will be absent.
- Engage with teachers, support staff, and students in a respectful and supportive way, abiding by group norms and demonstrating outstanding role model behavior.
