We are excited to announce the opening of the San Francisco Department of Elections Spring 2025 High School Elections Ambassador program, April 14 – April 25, 2025. Program applications will be available beginning February 24th at https://sfelections.org/spring2025.
The program is open to all San Francisco high school students (public, private, and home schooled) and offers students a unique and fun opportunity to promote civic engagement and pre-registration in their schools and neighborhoods.
During the two-week program, the Elections Ambassadors develop outreach plans, create promotional materials, and host outreach events to promote pre-registration for eligible high school students.
For Fall 2024, a record-breaking 50 San Francisco high school students, from 15 public and private schools across the city, participated in the program. The Fall 2024 Ambassadors conducted approximately 100 voter outreach events and helped to pre-register more than 250 San Francisco youth.
Prior to starting the Spring 2025 program, the students will attend a mandatory in-person training workshop. At the workshop, they will learn about voter eligibility requirements, high school poll worker service opportunities, and how to register and pre-register voters. Each Ambassador will be paired with a Department mentor who will support them in the development and execution of their outreach plans.
At the end of the program, we will hold a Celebration Ceremony at City Hall to thank the students for their participation. Each student will receive a participation certificate signed by the Mayor of San Francisco.
We sincerely hope you will encourage San Francisco high school students to participate in the Spring 2025 Elections Ambassador program. If you would like more information or have any questions about the program, please feel free to contact the High School programs team at hsp@sfgov.org or visit our High School Student Programs webpage at https://www.sf.gov/high-school-student-programs-info.
