Summer Virtual Volunteering - Meaningful Teens

Meaningful Teens is a philanthropic youth group for high school students who would like to teach English virtually and provide reading buddies to English language learners. Project Diversidad (Achieve Academy) is currently looking for high school students to virtually read to bilingual K-2 students in Oakland.

Reading sessions begin on Tuesday, June 9th, and will continue every Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 am - 10:30 am although the dates can be flexible as well. Once you have been assigned to a class, the lead teacher will reach out to you with a link to their Google sessions.  If you need to miss a session, just let your teacher know and your student will join another group for the day! During the lessons, you will need to screen share reading materials on Google Slides with your students provided by Project Diversidad.

If you are interested in volunteering please email meaningfulteens@gmail.com. All volunteers should plan on attending an orientation on Friday, June 5th  from 9:00 am-9:45 am. If you are unable to attend, a make-up session will be available Monday, June 8, 9:00 am - 9:45 am. You will receive a Google/Zoom invite later in the week after we receive your form.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Best,

Isabella Capelli and Carolyn Considine
