Volunteer: Sierra Club Bay Chapter

Attend a committee meeting to analyze and vote on political endorsements for environmental policies and candidates. Sign up.

Volunteers are critical to getting the work of the Bay Chapter done. From tabling at events to canvassing for environmentally friendly candidates and everything in between, we have a job that needs doing. To find current volunteer openings, visit our VolunteerMatch page.

Here are other ways you can get involved right away:

If you want to be involved in local campaigns → Attend a committee meeting

Passionate about transportation policy? Want to stop new fossil fuel infrastructure in the Bay Area? Have ideas for improving public parkland? The Bay Chapter's all-volunteer issue committees and regional group committees are responsible for the bulk of the work of the chapter, including:

  • Responding to immediate environmental threats

  • Deciding local conservation policy

  • Planning social, educational, and activist events

  • Making political endorsements

Our issue committees cover energy & climatewatertransportation & compact growthEast Bay public landszero waste, and our region's National Parks. Use these links to find contact information, and email leaders to find out about the next committee meeting. If you have more general interests or want to get involved at the most local level, attend a meeting of your regional group. These meetings are open to all Club members, so feel free to show up, listen in, and share your ideas.

If you're an outdoor adventurer → Take a hike, and become an activity leader

The Bay Chapter offers some of the best hikes, backpacking, snowcamping, and other outings in the country. Our calendar of activities and events is certain to have many items of interest to you. We always need more outings leaders! If you're an experienced outdoor adventurer and you want to help others explore and enjoy nature, find out how to become an outings leader here.
