Youth Art Exchange presents , a celebration of young artists and their vibrant contributions to the creative and cultural fabric of San Francisco.
The San Francisco Youth Arts Summit, a project facilitated by Youth Art Exchange, is an annual gathering of young artists and arts educators, and the only event of its kind in the Bay Area. As we continue to host the majority of the event online, we are planning an in-person gallery component with viewing appointments. The Youth Arts Summit will take place from December 1-3 with various workshops, panels, and professional development opportunities. The Youth Arts Summit culminates with the main event, the Youth Arts Celebration on Friday, December 4th from 4-6pm.
At the Summit, young artists lead and participate in workshops, interactive installations, exhibits, and performances. The Summit kicks off with a series of Professional Development opportunities, panel conversations and workshops Wednesday 12/1 and Thursday 12/2 and the Youth Arts Celebration on Friday 12/3 will feature exhibition of youth work, performances and a guest speaker. All of the artwork will also be hosted in an online gallery and select pieces will be installed in a gallery space. In bringing together young artists from across the Bay Area, the Youth Arts Summit represents the next generation’s most innovative artists, filmmakers, architects, musicians, performers, and writers.
Youth and representatives from organizations across the Bay Area come together to plan the Summit, building leadership and youth voice within the arts education and arts advocacy landscape, and forging deeper connections between young people and the organizations that they represent. We want to connect self identified youth artists to various arts colleges and arts programs and are inviting higher education institutions to participate to provide information and portfolio advice. This spirit of collaboration carries throughout the Summit and beyond to create a growing network of young artists, youth arts organizations, and higher education.
There are many ways to get involved like:
- Exhibiting your young artists’ work in the online gallery. All submissions should be sent to YAX by 11/17 to give time to set up the online gallery.
- Exhibiting your young artists’ work in the physical gallery space. All submissions should be dropped off to YAX by 11/17 to give time to install.
- Exhibiting your young artists’ work in a five minute slideshow during the youth arts celebration on 12/3
- Submitting youth films for the online gallery (may be selected to play during the youth arts celebration)
- Submitting pre-recorded performances for the online gallery (may be selected to play during the youth arts celebration)
- Virtual tabling: submitting information/resources that will be hosted online
- Bringing youth to attend
